Burg Simpson Investigates Claims for Contaminated Drugs

If you live in Ohio,  and have received notice that your blood-pressure medication Valsartan, Losartan, or Irbesartan was recalled due to contamination with the carcinogens NDMA or NDEA, call Burg Simpson[1] today! Burg Simpson is investigating potential class action claims that would reimburse Ohio consumers who purchased these contaminated drugs.

In July 2018, three pharmaceutical manufacturers recalled their Valsartan-containing blood pressure medications because they were contaminated with a known cancer-causing agent. In the months that followed, the FDA and the pharmaceutical industry began vigorously testing additional blood pressure medications for contaminants and the results were frightening. According to latest lists[2] published by the FDA, more than 100 Valsartan-containing drugs were found to be contaminated with the carcinogens NDMA and/or NDEA. Furthermore, at least 12 Losartan-containing drugs and 16 Irbesartan-containing drugs were found to be contaminated with NDEA. Given the scope of these recalls, the FDA recently issued a press release[3] warning the public that there is a shortage of non-contaminated valsartan products and that shortages of other blood-pressure medications may happen soon.

While the FDA continues to investigate how these products became contaminated, the FDA believes these contaminated products have been on the market in the U.S. for the last four years. Accordingly, for at least the last four years, individuals in need of blood pressure medication have unknowingly purchased, consumed, and exposed themselves to contaminated products that increase their risk of cancer. Although some manufactures appear to be offering limited refunds for contaminated products that are returned to the companies, this offer fails to compensate consumers for the money spent over the last four years on their contaminated drugs. Burg Simpson is investigating potential class action claims against the manufacturers of these recalled drugs to secure compensation for individuals who unknowingly paid for contaminated products.
